BC’s Sivertson to meet Homan in women’s junior curling final

B.C.’s Dailene Sivertson completed the trifecta on Saturday at the Canadian junior curling championships. After winning both tiebreakers earlier in the day, Sivertson and her Victoria rink stole a point in the extra end to defeat Northern Ontario’s Kendra Lilly 4-3 in the semifinal to earn a spot in Sunday’s championship game. In the final, Sivertson will try and accomplish what no other rink has been able to this week — beat Ontario skip Rachel Homan. The Ottawa foursome finished the round robin with a 12-0 record. McCarville draws New Brunswick to open Scotties

Krista McCarville's Ontario rink will look to avenge last year's loss to Andrea Kelly's New Brunswick foursome when their teams meet on the opening day of the Scotties Tournament of Hearts, Jan. 30 in Sault Ste. Marie. McCarville's rink, which includes Sault native Tara George as its third, will be on the ice at Essar Centre for the 3 p.m. first draw. It was a perfect end to a perfect week for Krista McCarville. The Thunder Bay native punched her ticket to her fourth trip to the Scotties Tournament of Hearts Sunday after posting a 7-4 over victory over Sudbury‘s Tracy Horgan in the Ontario final before a packed, partisan house at the Port Arthur Curling Club. McCarville, third Tara George, second Ashley Miharija and lead Kari MacLean put the finishing touches on a dominant 11-0 showing this week. She just keeps rolling. After a great showing at the Canadian Olympic Trials - including two tiebreaker victories to get into the playoffs - Thunder Bay's Krista McCarville is off to the Soo with a 7-4 victory over Sudbury's Tracy Horgan. McCarville and her rink of Tara George, Kari MacLean and Ashley Miharija won 11 straight in their hometown of Thunder Bay at the Ontario Scotties provincials - including three straight over Horgan. Thunder Bay's Krista McCarville will face Sudbury's Tracy Horgan in Sunday's Ontario Scotties Provincial final at 2:00pm Eastern at the Port Arthur Curling Club in Thunder Bay. McCarville swept into the final with a perfect 10-0 record and a 6-5 victory over Horgan in the Page 1 vs. 2 playoff game on Saturday afternoon. With the loss to McCarville, Horgan had to face Alliston's Jacqueline Harrison in the semi-final on Saturday evening.
