Playoffs for BC senior curling title to begin

Victoria's Wes Craig has secured his spot in the 2014 Tim Hortons BC Senior Curling Championships final by going undefeated through round-robin play. In women's play, Parksville's Penny Shantz was able to achieve the same feat. The final women's round robin games finished up this afternoon, and, with Shantz's win, she finished with a perfect 7-0 record and a bye to the final, which gets underway tomorrow at 2pm. Sidorova back in the hack at Ford World Women’s

Compared to the pressure of carrying Russia's hopes in women's curling at the Sochi Olympic Games, the 2014 Ford World Women's Curling Championship, presented by Booster Juice, might just be a welcome relief for Anna Sidorova. The young skip finished Olympic round-robin play in ninth place with a 3-6 record, but battled hard against some of the toughest teams in the game. MacKenzie leads Islanders to Kamloops

Eddie MacKenzie made his first trip to the Canadian men's curling championship in 1994, throwing third stones for the Prince Edward Island team skipped by Mike Gaudet. It took 17 years to get back to the national championship, but he's made the best of his resurgence, skipping the province's representatives three of the past four years. James Grattan has become the face of New Brunswick curling at the Canadian men's championship, making his debut appearance in 1997 when he took the bronze medal from Calgary back home to Moncton. New role for Oona Lehmann in Saint John

Imogen Oona Lehmann will be skipping for the first time at a major international event when she leads Team Germany at the 2014 Ford World Women's Curling Championship, presented by Booster Juice, March 15-23, at Harbour Station in Saint John. The 24-year-old, born and raised in Basel, Switzerland, played third on the country's 2010 national junior team. Kamloops gets into the Brier spirit with Getting Started in Curling sessions

People are being introduced to the sport of curling at special sessions in Kamloops on the first day of the 2014 Tim Hortons Brier. The McArthur Island Curling Club, the Kamloops Curling Club, Curl BC and The Optimists are all working together to bring the sessions to a wide range of people. The field is set for the 2014 BC Masters Curling Championships in Creston, with curlers from across the province taking part. Eight men's and eight women's teams will battle for gold in this 60+ competition which goes ahead at Creston Curling Club from March 5-9, 2014.
