Brown and Wenzek win Canada Games qualifiers

Corryn Brown's Kamloops squad swept all four of her games at the Canada Winter Games qualifier at the Vernon Curling Club this past weekend.Her team of third of Erin Pincott, Samantha Fisher, Sydney Fraser and coach Ken Brown will represent British Columbia at the Canada Winter Games in Halifax, Nova Scotia in February. In the final on Sunday evening, Brown was deadlocked 4-4 with Kalia Van Osch of Nanaimo in the seventh end. Scotties returns to Red Deer in 2012

RED DEER, ALBERTA  -  It was announced today that the 2012 Scotties Tournament of Hearts will be held in Alberta, for the fifth time in the event's history. Ursel starts strong without skip

With their skip on the shelf nursing a sore knee, the Bob Ursel rink made it to the semifinals of a World Curling Tour event for the second straight time. The Kelowna team reached the final four at the Westcoast Classic in New Westminster before dropping a 6-3 decision on Monday to Olympic champion Kevin Martin of Edmonton. Regular rink members—fourth-man Jim Cotter, second Kevin Folk and lead Rick Sawatsky—were joined in New West by substitute thirds Dean Joanisse and Ken Maskiewich for the weekend and the results were promising. The Westcoast Curling Classic is the most prestigious annual curling event in the Lower Mainland. Top Teams at WCC in Royal City

It's not often a world champion comes to the Royal City and is overshadowed. But that's the case from Oct. 7 to 11 at the Royal City Curling Club when the current world champion, Kevin Koe, is joined by the current Olympic champion, Kevin Martin. Martin is also a former world champion, a four-time Canadian champion and a four-time winner of the Westcoast Classic. Cranbrook to host 2011 Canada Cup

The Canada Cup of Curling is coming to town, featuring the highest quality curling in the world and accompanying national televised exposure. The Canada Cup — a Canadian Curling Association (CCA) sanctioned event — is the first qualifying event for the Olympic trials, which in turn will determine who will attend the Winter Olympics (in this case, the 2014 Olympics in Sochi, Russia). The Courtesy Freight Superspiel and the KIA Cup Classic Superspiel are both open for registration. These events are open to any teams (men, women, juniors, seniors, mixed) with a berth to The Dominion NOCA Men’s Provincial being awarded to the top NOCA Men’s team from each event.
